a day in the life.

When beautiful mama Deena reached out to me about capturing a day in the life session for them, I was over the moon. With four kiddos in tow and a fifth on the way, they were quite literally wrapping up one chapter of their lives, and about to start a new. It was a celebration of sorts. Pressing the pause button on the chaos of everyday life to really spend some time together before the new baby arrives, and it was a perfect time to document.

I have known Deena a long time, we have kept in touch sporadically throughout the years. To me, she is basically wonder woman. A true warrior in my eyes, and probably every other person who has the pleasure of knowing her. A beautiful soul with a contagious laugh… she is the nucleus of this family and she makes it all look so easy. Juggling a hundred balls at once on a daily basis, but doing it with such ease and grace. And still, managing to keep the food on the table a healthy assortment of salmon and vegetables, or kale smoothies. (YUM!) She actually might be a unicorn. I’m not kidding. She is one of a kind, a natural mother and a strong woman I truly admire (if you hadn’t noticed).

And, of course, none of it really possible without her incredible partner and husband, Randall, a true father to their children in every definition of the word. He’s funny and charming, driven to succeed and provide for his growing family. Together, they are a power couple, if I’ve ever seen one. A force to be reckoned with. And, it’s no surprise these two also have some of the sweetest children I’ve met. We spent the whole day together, sun up to sun down, and they really are a dream.

I walked away from our day together feeling so inspired. Not only by their love for each other, but by their faith and their seemingly unbreakable bond. I feel so honored that they opened up their lives, hearts and home to me, and allowed me to capture everything that makes them who they are. I hope you enjoy their story through these images.

Also, I’m thrilled to report that baby #5 arrived last week! Their daughter, Rayden, was born on October 5th, on the way to the hospital – in the car… yep, you read that right, IN THE CAR. Randall shot a video, click here and you will not believe your eyes. I think I have watched it 100 hundred times now. Warrior, I tell you. This family is no joke. Sending love as they enter this new chapter!!

 

My passion for photography has always been fueled by authenticity. My favorite thing about my day in the life package is that it really allows us time, and real beautiful authentic moments require time. While we always get good stuff in my shorter sessions, but I have found that the moment the sun would set and I say “finished”, is always the moment when the parents shoulders would finally relax, and the kiddos would follow suit. It’s that moment when the authentic bond of the family would really shine the brightest. But by then, our beautiful golden light has passed and our session is over. This package allows us to capture it all. The fun, the silly, the love, the moods… the true essence of your family, where you are at, and each individual, unique personality.
