I’m always amazed at women who jump right in and adjust to motherhood so flawlessly. Looking amazing and rested and put together in the weeks right after giving birth. Nailing the breastfeeding stuff and knowing just what their baby needs right off the bat. I wasn’t one of those women. I think it’s probably because I went into it with a little bit of an ego. I was so sure I knew exactly what I was in for because you know, I work with kids on the regular – I must know everything about parenting… but then BOOM, motherhood punched me right in the gut.
It really is so much more than anyone or any book (or any stranger in the Trader Joe’s Parking lot) can warn you about. Yet there are people out there who just dive right in and kill it, much like these guys. It was like life was all the same, only now they have a newborn in tow. Adoring and loving their new baby girl OF COURSE, but still brunching and golfing and remembering to dial in their favorite music channel for ambiance at the house. I think I was holed up in my living room for at least the first 5 weeks when my daughter was born… I admit, I was a total mess. So, I look at people like this in such awe. They are super human, and amazing, and their baby girl really could not be cuter!
