Sometimes you just have to laugh at how chaotic your life becomes as a parent. Luckily, I get to do it with my dear friends/clients. We shoot, and chat, and laugh, and sometimes cry… and then laugh again. We feel all the feelings, you know. But man, when we find those quiet, loving moments in-between and freeze them in time, there isn’t a better gift to give yourself – and your children. I think seeing those happy moments framed on the wall really helps get through the hard days, I know they help me! Cheers, to all the messy parts of parenthood – and all the beauty that comes along with it.

Nothing says fun like walking to get fresh donuts first thing in the morning. YUM. My favorite type of shoot, is the one where I simply follow you on an outing that is authentic to your family. In this case, mornings at the Farmers Market are a quite common, and while donuts are a special treat – what better occasion than this! This mama wasn’t kidding when she told me her little girl really comes to life when she gets to have her favorite sweet treat. I had so much fun documenting this special time for them.

[JOSHUA TREE] It’s been a while since I’ve shared a personal post here, and I still struggle with should I/shouldn’t I… but people keep telling me I should, and I don’t have it in me to start another website, so here I am.

We stopped calling them “vacations” when we became parents, now they are just “trips”. We take trips.

I mean, just the thought of all the packing and coordinating (and whining) that goes into these trips makes me need a drink… but then I think about how some of my favorite childhood memories are from our family camping trips. I still love looking through those pictures. So I force my husband and my kids to go away with me, to picturesque places, so we can take cool photos. Even though they probably won’t remember any of it, these pictures will serve as proof that we did fun stuff. And hopefully someday they will appreciate it.

Venice is almost 4, Atlas is almost 1 and our first born, Bixby dog, just turned 11. It was a little chaotic, and I didn’t get to take as many pictures with my fancy camera as I had hoped – you know, always trying to master the “taking pictures and actually being present with my kids” balance – but the home we stayed in was gorgeous and we had a blast, so I call that a win.

Here are some highlights from our TRIP to Joshua Tree.

[SAN FRANCISCO] Since I started my business, I have had a handful of my regular clients move away for various reasons. When they first break the news, my heart breaks a little bit… but I quickly remind myself, this does not have to be the end. I am grateful to have the most incredibly supportive husband who will hold down the fort and take care of our littles, so I can continue to document my favorite families around the country.

Thankfully, when this mama told me they were moving, and it happened to be to a city I already frequent…. the sadness quickly turned to pure excitement when we realized we would get to shoot in a new city together! Soon the planning began and months later, there we were…. in San Francisco!! If you couldn’t tell from my double exclamation point, it was SO much fun. So much fun in fact, I couldn’t narrow down the images more than this… there are simply too many good ones (if that’s even possible), this was the best I could do.
